geninne's fab studio

Well, this is what I call a good art studio

geninne's art blog_studio1

Good idea for storing pens, brushes and other artistic goods are jars, cups or ceramic pots, all nicely arranged in a tray.

I LOVE calligraphy block on the wall. Words and letters SO inspire me!

Color of the wooden furniture is beautiful. So retro, yet modern. Goes well with so many different styles. And look at those inspiration boards!

very old credenza

Several months ago, at the end of summer and while visiting my Godmother and very best friend in Dobre Vode...I fell for credenza of her grandparents. It was painted God knows how many times, but still looking SO pretty. Oh, how I would love to put my hands on it :)

Anyway, Gaga - my Godmother has not yet decided how to rejuvenate the credenza...and here's what I had in mind

Believe me, this is almost exactly how her credenza looks. Don't you just love it?

For me, it brings such a great memories of childhood... old stone house of my grandmother, full of stuff like this...

My very best friend asked me for mirror inspiration. I put together some different ideas for a mirror as well as some common ideas but in great interiors...
Mirrors are a favorite design element of decorators not just because they're pretty, but because mirrors have amazing space and light enhancing properties. While any old mirror will help make a room look larger and brighter and, when properly positioned, can maximize a good view, a beautifully designed mirror can function as art in its own right.

Nordic style with animal print?...check it out

While surfing the web, I stumbled upon Lena Proudlock site, born Swedish photographer and designer, based in London. She designs furniture, denim coverings and bean bags, as well as creating personal portraits of people.
Lena's home was featured on all about you, and it's quite unusual. I am not fond of animal prints, but I like this apartment. Mixed modern and vintage, new and old, different ethno details...tell me, what do YOU think? I'm curious :)

mimosa festival and color inspiration

The manifestation which lasts for over three decades and which lasts for several weeks today is the main part of the tourist offer of Herceg Novi. Numerous fiestas, big children’s and the carnival for adults, majorettes, as well as the traveling caravan of mimosas are just some of the segments of this, for Herceg Novi, exquisite event. Always starting first saturday in February, which this year will be the 5th, I am inspired with Mimosa festival...by it's beautiful and fresh color as well as unusual smell.

Mimosa flower is a great way to freshen up your interior while waiting for spring :) because color yellow exemplifies the warmth of the sun, properties we as human are naturally drawn to. Mimosa yellow was the color of the 2009 and it was used in fashion, home furnishings and decorations

home tour... honeysuckle & green

Most of you already know Honeysuckle is the color of 2011. It's the color in between red and pink, and I love it because it has more energy than pink alone, but it's not dominant as red. More popular as HOT PINK, it can be paired with almost every color. Goes great with grey, white, green (as you can see below, because they're complementary so both colors pops out)...it can be also paired with turquoise (color of 2010) and I like it with navy blue . I love wearing hot pink, and have maybe too many things in that color.
what people from Pantone said about Honeysuckle in home interiors
Honeysuckle is upbeat and dynamic when used on large areas like the entry area of a house or an apartment. It is an appetite and conversation stimulant when used on the dining room walls. In the kitchen, it adds a fun touch on the table in placemats and other linens (patterned or solid), colored glassware, candles and small appliances. Honeysuckle is a great color to cover up shabby kitchen cabinets, or, if that’s too much of a color statement for you, try repainting knobs and drawer pulls. But be warned – once you try this arresting shade, it can become addictive.

balkan breeze...scandinavian breeze

It is time for new balkan breeze post...and this time we're visiting fabulously stylish and fresh apartment of Kristina Duran, interior designer from Zagreb, Croatia. She worked for years as creative director of Croatian interior magazine moja4zida, where she wrote with passion about design. Now Kristina and her friend and coworker Natasa Somek started with Miss Decor studio, making this world a prettier place to live in.
And without further ado...

novo4home3name and location: Kristina Duran, Zagreb, Croatia
square meters: 68
my style: Scandinavian, with lots of white and with interesting detailshome7 inspiration: homes and apartments I find through blogs, simple vintage details, flea markets, French windows, past times...
favorite element: I'm crazy about crystal chandeliers and candlesticks, I have lots of them and my friends are kidding me that in the past life I lived in a palace. Besides that, I love my bedroom. Although it's small, I think it's SO sweet and romantic.goran5 biggest challenge: being mom and doing what I love. and taking my dog for a walk ha hakuhinja4kuhinja5kuhinja3 what friend say: as I mentioned, my closest friends think I got lost in  time, for a few decades...that I am born in a wrong time period as I love vintage things. That's how I decorated my home, which also has a classy but dreamy touch. I respect minimalism but it's not my style.sman11novo3web1decorating advice: You'll never go wrong with white. Beside it's beautiful, it is easy to combine it with other colors plus it makes the space seem bigger. With two kids and a dog, I can tell you from my experience  it's not difficult to keep white space clean. Of course, you should find a sofa with removable/washable cover, but it's not a problem at all to keep white floor clean.kiki1kiki2spavaca1

Don't you just LOVE Kristina's apartment? It looks like scandinavian/french combination to me...and I ADORE it! Kristina lives there with her husband, two kids and adorable little dog named Gitica (as you've noticed, Gitica is quite a model).

Oh, I forgot to tell you...Kristina also blogs...her blog Miss Decor is one of my favorites. So, if you need a Scandinavian, French, romantic, dreamy INSPIRATION, you go check it out.

I know you enjoyed this tour...

until next balkan breeze

great ideas for shelves..via sunset

1.Floating book shelves
Typical store-bought floating shelves are suitable only for displaying objects, as they have a weight capacity of 10 or so pounds. This way, situation is changed with the strong support. Wood trim hides the brackets supporting the shelves, creating an elegant appearance reinforced by the larger display shelf at the bottom.1shelves-invisible-m-l

winter idea.. white living room

6-Sanderson-Parchment-Flowers-5A-lg--gt_full_width_landscape
Do you think white is boring? Ok, I know everyone has a different taste, but let me show you how white can be interesting, especially during winter. Yes, it is the perfect color for summer, to cool it down…but in wintertime, we can feel like in the snow, yet so warm and cozy. First, some examples of warmer white living rooms, adding cream, pale yellow or light brown. Don’t forget to add texture when decorating in white – different materials and structures.

shutters and a sneak peak into montenegro

Some of you know how much I love windows, especially one with shutters. I have a huge collection of window photos, arts and prints. For me it represents open heart and open mind, look into the future, beyond boundaries. As a counterbalance, I’m attracted to old, vintage windows…and shutters. Photo below was taken in Istra – Croatia.

passion finds.. good mood factory

Hello my friends. It’s unusually hot and sunny day here in Herceg Novi for this time of year. The sea looks like someone poured hundred of brilliants on its surface, the view is magical let me tell ya.
The little one is asleep, so I have time for a post. While flipping through DECO my place, an unlimited source of inspiration from real homes…one album caught my attention. To be honest, it’s not the best ever, or unbelievably different, but it is warm, cozy, colorful and passionate.

perfect home no.3 ** savršen dom br.3 fabulous trullo

Have you heard about trullo? It is house with conical roofing, traditional for south-east Italy and may be found in towns Alberobello, Locorotondo, Fasano, Cisternino, Martina Franca and Ceglie Messapica. Trulli were generally constructed as storehouses, built without any cement. This style of construction is also prevalent in the surrounding countryside where most of the fields are separated by dry-stone walls (the same style of construction can be seen in my country too...and I am fascinated by its durability)
In Alberobello atop a trullo's cone there is normally a pinnacle, that may be one of many designs, chosen for symbolism. Additionally, the cone itself may have a symbol painted on it...which may include planetary symbols, the mallocchio (evil eye), the cross, a heart, a star ....

balkan breeze ... soulful grey

Hello everybody...it's time for new Balkan breeze ...and this time I've decided to feature one masculine and very stylish apartment I fell inlove with several months ago. This is apartment in Belgrade, located in area I am personaly attached to - Konjarnik...because I used to live there for several years. It was the best time ever.
Anyway, the apartment we're touring today belongs to young and successful graphic and industrial designer, so he implemented all of his knowledge about the form, colours and proportions in it.

passion finds.. dressing table

One of PassionDecor readers asked me if I could find some inspirational photos of makeup and dressing table. The thing is, she asked me long time ago on PD facebook page...ang I just saw that yesterday..silly me. Please guys...whatever you want to ask me, write me an email...I'll be more than happy to help in any way.
Here are some photos I found inspirative and beautiful.

home tour.. vintage cottage

You know when reading a good book written long long time ago, or just having that vintage feeling...there's always a mansion or castle in it, with gorgeous gardens and landscaping? And where is a mansion, there is at least one guest cottage.
That was my first thought after seeing this lovely, comfy and fresh little cottage...spotted on House of Turquoise
Photographed by Janis Nicolay and featured in Style at Home magazine, this cottage was designed by Colleen Sawatsky, owner of Vintage Home.

Don't you love the art above the sofa? adorable...
